MURIC Accuses Tinubu of Favouring Christians More than Muslims in Government Appointments

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has raised accusations against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming that his government operates with a bias towards Christians, neglecting the skilled and talented Muslim population in Nigeria for key political appointments.

Professor Ishaq Akintola, the Executive Director of MURIC, voiced these concerns during the recent national conference of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) held at the National Mosque in Abuja. The conference focused on addressing issues arising from the 2023 elections and associated socio-economic challenges.

Akintola criticized Tinubu’s administration, alleging that it favors Christians in political appointments, which has led to a lack of representation for skilled and talented Muslims. He questioned why Tinubu, a prominent political figure, has not appointed more Muslims to key positions and accused the government of neglecting Muslim constituencies and areas in its appointments.

Furthermore, Akintola expressed dissatisfaction with the economic performance under Tinubu’s leadership, citing concerns about the devaluation of the Naira and the general hardship faced by the populace. He urged the government to deliver on its promises and address the economic challenges facing the country.
