Plateau Governor Calls for Fairness and Justice for Ousted PDP Lawmakers

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has urged for fairness and justice for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers in the state who were removed from office by the Court of Appeal. Governor Mutfwang, whose own election was annulled by the appellate court but reinstated by the Supreme Court, emphasized the importance of equity in this matter.
Speaking to journalists during a visit to the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Sonny Echono, in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude for the public’s interest in the issue. He stressed the significance of delivering judgments based on justice, fairness, and equity.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja had previously nullified the election of all 16 PDP members in the Plateau House of Assembly, five members of the House of Representatives, and two senators from the state due to alleged disobedience to a court order and a lack of political structure. Governor Mutfwang’s own removal was based on similar grounds, but the Supreme Court recently overturned the decision, affirming his election.
Governor Mutfwang acknowledged that ongoing discussions would determine the path forward regarding the affected lawmakers. He highlighted the importance of justice, fairness, and equity as fundamental values for Nigeria’s progress, expressing hope that these principles would guide the country’s future.
Meanwhile, TETFund’s Executive Secretary, Mr. Echono, praised the progress of projects in Plateau State and announced that five research proposals from the state would benefit from the Federal Government’s approved N5.1 billion research grants.
