Nasarawa State Governor Dismisses Protests as Inconsequential to Supreme Court Verdict

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, affirmed the Supreme Court’s verdict on his victory in the March 2023 governorship election, stating that protests against the decision would not alter the outcome. Stressing the importance of accepting the apex court’s ruling, Governor Sule emphasized that those who value democracy should respect the finality of the Supreme Court’s judgment.

Following the court’s affirmation of his win, Governor Sule, accompanied by former APC national chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu and ex-governor Senator Tanko Almakura, visited President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to express gratitude.

Addressing the protests in his state, Governor Sule acknowledged the diverse opinions within the electorate but underscored the need for maturity and respect for democratic institutions. He highlighted the ruling party’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and maintaining political maturity, citing their decision not to protest after losing at the tribunal.

Commending President Tinubu for his non-interference in the judiciary’s proceedings, Governor Sule attributed the successful resolution of election disputes to the president’s commitment to fairness and justice.

Expressing his appreciation for the Supreme Court’s judgment, Governor Sule thanked the justices for their unanimous decision in his favor. He urged his opponents to join hands in developing Nasarawa State, emphasizing its strategic importance as a hub for oil exploration and mineral processing.
