Seven Kidnapped Victims Return Home from Abduction in Bwari

Seven residents who were abducted from Sagwari Estate in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have been released. The abduction had occurred following a raid by gunmen on the estate opposite Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Dutse around 8 pm on a Sunday night, resulting in the abduction of 10 residents.
Tragically, the captors had given a deadline for the payment of ransom, and the failure of the family to meet their demand led to the killing of one of the captives named Nabeeha. Among the captives who were murdered were Talatu Salihu, a 500 level student of Library and Information Science at Bayero University Kano (BUK), a hotel staff member, Akpagher Joseph Terzungwe, and 13-year-old Mitchell Ariyo.
After these killings, the kidnappers increased the ransom for the remaining victims and set a deadline for payment by Wednesday. However, sources from the facility revealed on Sunday afternoon that the seven remaining victims, including a female hotel receptionist, a mother and her three children, as well as two young children, have been released to their respective family members.
This development follows the release of the four remaining siblings of the late Nabeeha Al-Kadriyah, who was killed while in captivity. The sisters were abducted alongside their father in early January. The kidnappers had raised the ransom from N60 million to N100 million after killing their father, threatening to harm the remaining sisters. However, as of the latest update, the girls have been released and have returned to their Abuja residence where they were initially abducted.
The release of the seven residents and the four siblings has brought a sense of relief to the community and the families involved, although the ordeal has undoubtedly left lasting scars.
