Nigeria Police Force Eliminates Notorious Kidnappers in Abuja, Destroys Camps

The Nigeria Police Force has announced the successful elimination of several notorious kidnappers in the Mpape area of Abuja, along with the destruction of their camps. According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, this operation was carried out by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Bureau – Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) in the early hours of February 9, 2024, based on intelligence gathered.

The police team engaged in a 30-minute gun battle with the armed bandits, resulting in fatal injuries for many of the bandits and one police operative sustaining bullet wounds. The operation targeted Musa Wada (Sabo) Magaji, the identified kidnapping kingpin, and his associates, who had been responsible for numerous kidnappings for ransom in areas such as Mpape, Bwari in the FCT, Kagarko in Kaduna, Masaka, and Nukun Village in Nasarawa State. Musa Wada’s modus operandi involved targeting wealthy individuals and organizing armed gangs for abduction.

The successful raid on their hideout, located in the outskirts of Mpape Hills, led to the elimination of these criminals. The police recovered items such as mobile phones, multiple SIM cards, charms, and hard drugs from the hideout, which are crucial evidence for ongoing investigations. Efforts are ongoing to recover more arms, ammunition, and other equipment used by the criminals.

The Nigeria Police Force reaffirms its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. The force will continue to take proactive measures to dismantle criminal networks and bring perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice.
