The first phase of the nationwide Renewed Hope Cities and Estates program is expected to generate more than 1 million jobs in the construction sector, according to Arc. Musa Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development. This announcement was made during the official launch of the program and the groundbreaking ceremony for the 3,112 housing-unit Renewed Hope City in Karsana, Abuja.
Arc. Dangiwa stated that Phase 1 of the program, which involves the construction and development of 50,000 housing units across the country, will create 1,250,000 direct and indirect construction jobs. He emphasized that these projects will not only provide affordable housing but also stimulate economic growth by generating employment opportunities and attracting investments.
The minister highlighted the ripple effect of the construction projects, including the purchase and supply of building materials and the establishment of businesses around the construction sites. He emphasized that the housing units will contribute to the development of sustainable urban spaces and improve the overall quality of life for residents.
In addition to offering affordable housing, the Renewed Hope Cities and Estates program aims to enhance urban planning and design, making cities more efficient and sustainable. It is also expected to relieve pressure on existing cities and make significant contributions to the country’s economy by attracting both local and foreign investors.
