Rising Cost of Living Sparks Protests in Lagos, Demands for Action

Lagosians have joined the growing list of states where protests have erupted against the high cost of living in Nigeria.
In Lagos, market women and youths staged a protest in the Ibeju-Lekki area on Saturday, expressing their discontent with the current economic situation. They carried placards with messages such as “Baba Tinubu, Nigerians are hungry” and “Tinubu, come and rescue us.”
This protest adds to a series of demonstrations held in Kogi, Osun, Niger, and Kano States, all highlighting the challenges faced by ordinary Nigerians due to the rising cost of living.
The recent surge in prices of commodities across the country has been attributed to the removal of the petrol subsidy in May 2023.
