Zamfara State Bans Sale of Bread and Petroleum in Jerry Cans for Security Reasons

The Zamfara State Government has implemented a ban on the sale of bread loaves and petroleum in jerry cans to motorists and motorcycle riders due to security concerns. This decision was announced by Commissioner of Information and Culture Mannir Muazu Haidara following a state security council meeting at Government House, Gusau.
The ban comes in response to the nefarious activities of some filling stations, bakeries, and bread sellers in rural areas of the state. These entities have been observed selling fuel in jerry cans and bread to suspected bandits in these communities. The council strongly advises against these practices and urges compliance.
Additionally, the council has prohibited the use of tinted glass, covering of number plates, and the use of sirens by individuals on unauthorized vehicles. Security agencies have been instructed to arrest and prosecute offenders.
Haidara emphasized the importance of registering vehicles’ number plates with relevant government bodies. Motorists who have not done so are urged to comply immediately, as authorities are empowered to arrest and prosecute defaulters in collaboration with security agencies.
Furthermore, security agencies have successfully recovered some cattle from bandits. Citizens whose cattle were rustled are encouraged to come forward with supporting evidence to reclaim their animals through the appropriate process.
The measures announced by the Zamfara State Government aim to enhance security and deter criminal activities in the state.
