Saidu Abdulkadir, widely known as Dahiru Adamu, a wanted kidnapper in Abuja, has been apprehended by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command following a fierce gun battle. The arrest was confirmed by FCT Police Commissioner Benneth Igwe during a press briefing where Abdulkadir was paraded.
The arrest of Abdulkadir, who had a N20 million bounty placed on him by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, marks a significant victory in the fight against kidnapping in the Abuja territory. The suspect, believed to be the leader of a notorious gang responsible for terrorizing the area, was captured during a raid on two kidnappers’ camps located on the border between Nasarawa and Abuja, near Kuje area council.
During the operation, the police, from the Anti-kidnapping unit, engaged in a fierce gun battle with the bandits, eventually overpowering them. As a result, Abdulkadir was arrested, and two kidnapped victims, Habu Yakubu and Isufu Abubakar, who were abducted from Kwaita village via Pegi district of Kuje area council, were rescued unharmed.
Preliminary investigations by the FCT Police Command revealed that Abdulkadir was involved in the kidnapping and killing of the district head of Ketti community in AMAC, Mr. Sunday Yahaya Zakwai. While efforts are ongoing to apprehend other wanted suspects still at large, Commissioner Igwe has reassured criminals in the FCT that there is no safe haven for them.
