Oyo State Governor Extends Wage Payment for Workers and Pensioners

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has announced plans to extend the payment of wages for workers and pensioners in the state for the next six months. This decision aims to alleviate the economic hardship faced by many residents in the state.
The governor made this announcement during the commissioning of the 12.5km Challenge – Odo Ona – Elewe-Elebu – Apata dualised road project. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to prioritizing the welfare of workers and pensioners in the state, especially during these challenging times.
Governor Makinde had previously approved the payment of N25,000 for workers and N15,000 for pensioners in the state, a move that was well-received by many. He stated, “I will also announce today that the wage award will be extended by another six months to give us time to close out on the minimum wage discussion and negotiation.”
In addition to the wage extension, Governor Makinde also revealed that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will soon roll out an action plan to reduce the economic hardship faced by Nigerians. He emphasized the party’s commitment to implementing practical solutions that benefit the people.
Addressing allegations that PDP state governors are not paying salaries and pensions to workers, Governor Makinde clarified that his administration has not failed to pay workers’ salaries and pensions to retirees later than the 25th of any month since he assumed office.
The governor’s announcement comes as a welcome relief to workers and pensioners in Oyo State, as it demonstrates his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of its citizens.
