Terrorists Rampage Through Niger State, Leaving Destruction in Their Wake

Boko Haram terrorists launched a devastating attack on the town of Allawa in Niger State, setting fire to over 30 houses and destroying food supplies, livestock, and other valuables.
The attack, which occurred on Sunday evening, saw the terrorists chanting “Allahu Akbar” as they carried out house-to-house raids in the town. They operated for about 30 minutes before being confronted by military personnel stationed in the area.
Fortunately, there were no casualties reported on either side, although some residents are still missing following the incident. The swift response of the military prevented further loss of life.
Residents of Allawa expressed gratitude to the soldiers for their timely intervention, which prevented a potential massacre. However, the town is now facing a humanitarian crisis, with hundreds of livestock and over 150 bags of grains destroyed, leaving residents in urgent need of assistance.
One resident, Timothy Gwadabe, a peasant farmer, recounted the devastation caused by the attack. “They burnt my houses and everything inside including 30 bags of beans and 20 bags of maize,” he said.
This attack comes after a series of violent incidents in the area, including an attack on a mining site and other nearby villages, where several people were killed, and properties destroyed. The terrorists have also targeted the Allawa-Pandogari road, killing and abducting locals, including women and children.
Niger State Commissioner for Homeland Security, Garba Mohammed, assured that “coordinated efforts” are being made to address the escalating security challenges in the region.
