The Kogi State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, sitting in Abuja, has dismissed the petition filed by the Action Peoples Party (APP) challenging the election of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo as the Governor of Kogi State in the November 11, 2023, governorship election.
Represented by Counsel Daniel Edeachi, Esq., the petitioner withdrew the petition, which was not opposed by the counsels to Governor Ododo, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Following the withdrawal, the Tribunal reviewed the affidavit of no-objection filed by the counsels to the respondents and granted the withdrawal. The petition was subsequently struck out in a ruling delivered on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, by the Chairman of the Tribunal, Hon. Justice Ado Yusuf Birnin-Kudu.
Three other petitions are still pending before the Tribunal, awaiting further hearings.
