Enyimba Economic City Development Company FZE, the developers of Enyimba Economic City in Abia State, have congratulated Geometric Power on the official commissioning of the Aba Integrated Power Project (AIPP). This project aims to provide 24/7 power supply to nine local governments in Abia State, including the industrial city of Aba.
The AIPP, which encompasses generation, distribution, and marketing of power, is a significant step towards addressing the power needs of the region. The commissioning ceremony, graced by the President of Nigeria, His Excellency, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, marks the official unveiling of the 188 MW gas-powered generation plant in Osisioma, Aba, Abia State.
Enyimba Economic City and Geometric AIPP are co-financed by the African Export-Import Bank, Cairo, Egypt. Geometric AIPP is the Bank’s recognized power partner for Enyimba Economic City, with a signed 90MW Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the First Phase of Enyimba Economic City.
This milestone signifies not only the launch of Geometric Power’s operations but also a significant advancement towards the realization of the $288.7 million first phase of the project. Enyimba Economic City, spanning three local governments in Abia State, is poised to become a hub for various sectors, including Manufacturing, Logistics, Healthcare, and Education.
The first phase of the project covers 1,499 hectares of land, including the First Industrial Township and Logistics Park with a Full Origin and Destination (OD) Inland Port connected by rail to Port Harcourt and Onne Seaports. This infrastructure is crucial for enhancing connectivity and economic activities in the region.
Enyimba Economic City won the first prize in the Global New Cities Business Plan Contest in 2019, demonstrating its potential to transform the economy. With marketing efforts underway in India, China, and Nigeria, the project is set to be launched by Q2 of 2024, further boosting economic growth and development in the region.
