The National President of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Muhammed Ibrahim, along with the association and the Non-Academic Staff Union, has initiated a seven-day strike starting Monday. This action is in response to the Federal Government’s failure to address their grievances regarding unfair treatment.

Ibrahim highlighted that SSANU members have not received their 2022 arrears and expressed bewilderment at the lack of compliance with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to pay these arrears. Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Show, Ibrahim confirmed the commencement of the strike, stating that workers in various university departments had withdrawn their services.

He further mentioned that there had been no engagement from the Federal Government, and the strike would continue for the next seven days unless their demands were met. After this period, the unions would assess the situation and determine their next course of action.
