Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, the Chief of Naval Staff, has called on Nigerians to pray for peace, unity, and progress in the face of the current challenges facing the country. Speaking at an Iftar programme organised by the Nigerian Navy Islamic Directorate in Abuja, Ogalla highlighted the importance of prayers from both Christians and Muslims in seeking God’s intervention.

Acknowledging the daunting challenges in both the economic and security realms, Ogalla emphasized the need for citizens to remain steadfast in seeking Allah’s intervention. He noted that the country is facing socio-economic challenges and stressed the importance of prayer alongside hard work to overcome these challenges.

Ogalla also highlighted the significance of the Ramadan period, which coincides with the Lenten period for Christians, in emphasizing the oneness of all religions, particularly Islam and Christianity. He urged Nigerians to dedicate their lives to serving God wholeheartedly to earn his mercies.

While commending the efforts of the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces in addressing the country’s challenges, Ogalla called on all Nigerians to pray for peace and security to prevail in the nation. He assured that field officers are equally ready to do all that is humanly possible to support the President’s efforts.

In conclusion, Ogalla joined Muslim brothers and sisters in urging everyone to continue praying for the peace and security of the nation. His call for prayer has sparked debates, with some questioning the emphasis on prayer over concrete actions to tackle the country’s challenges. However, the importance of prayer in seeking divine intervention in difficult times remains a significant aspect of many Nigerians’ lives.
