‘Tinubu Outshines Buhari’s Eight Years in Office,’ Claims Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri, a former spokesperson for the presidency, has openly commended President Bola Tinubu for his substantial achievements within less than a year in office, drawing a stark contrast to what he described as the “eight wasteful years” under former President Muhammadu Buhari. Celebrating Tinubu’s 72nd birthday on X, Omokri lauded the president’s bold economic policies, which include floating the national currency and eliminating fuel subsidies, as moves that have begun to positively impact the nation’s trade balance.
According to Omokri, these decisive actions have led to a significant reduction in fuel imports by 53%, while local refining saw an 8% increase, with prospects for further growth. The nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has also experienced a growth of 3.4% under Tinubu’s leadership, culminating in a trade surplus. Omokri noted the trickle-down effects of these reforms, manifesting as lower prices for essential goods such as cement, indomie noodles, and rice, benefiting the everyday Nigerian.
Omokri, in his message, expressed a commitment to remain unbiased and factual, acknowledging that despite their differing political views, he supports Tinubu’s direction and achievements. He emphasised the importance of good health and wisdom for the president to continue guiding the nation effectively.
Additionally, Omokri reflected on a personal moment when Tinubu reached out on his 50th birthday, which significantly impacted his view of the president’s character. He praised Tinubu for his forgiving nature and leadership qualities, marking him as a true leader capable of rising above personal sentiments.
As he extended his birthday wishes to Tinubu, Omokri underscored the president’s impressive performance compared to his predecessor, highlighting a hopeful outlook for Nigeria’s future under his guidance. This endorsement from one of Tinubu’s erstwhile critics underscores a notable acknowledgment of the president’s early successes and the potential for sustained growth and reform in the country.
