UPDATED: Dana Air confirms Lagos airport runway incident, says aircraft grounded

Dana Air has confirmed that one of its planes skidded off the runway at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport. The incident involved flight 5N BKI, which was traveling from Abuja to Lagos. Thankfully, all 83 passengers and crew onboard disembarked safely. Dana Air expressed regret for the situation but commended its crew for handling it professionally. The airline promptly informed the Accident Investigation Bureau and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, and the aircraft involved has been grounded for investigation.

The airline thanked the airport authorities and its crew for ensuring the passengers’ safety and apologized for any inconvenience caused. Dana Air emphasized its commitment to passenger safety and assured cooperation with relevant authorities in investigating the incident

This incident recalls a similar event in January 2018 when a Dana Air flight brushed a fence at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja while trying to park. No injuries were reported, but the pilot was blamed for the incident.
