The American International School has returned the $760,000 payment made by Yahaya Bello for his children’s school fees to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) recovery account, as revealed by Dele Oyewole, the EFCC spokesperson in Abuja.
Oyewale mentioned that the EFCC provided the school with an account for the refund, and the school complied by making full repayment into that account. The school had previously contacted the EFCC to inquire about the appropriate bank account for the refund, as they had committed to reimbursing the fees.
Yahaya Bello, the governor facing trial for allegedly misappropriating over N80 billion belonging to the state government over the past eight years, had made the payment in question for his children’s education.
In summary, the American International School has refunded the fees paid by Yahaya Bello to the EFCC’s recovery account, following the agency’s directive. This action aligns with the ongoing legal proceedings against Bello regarding financial misconduct during his tenure as governor.
