The Nigerian Army has pledged to enhance security for all National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members across the country. Major General M.L.D Sarazo, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division in Kaduna State, assured that officers and soldiers under the division’s jurisdiction would prioritize the safety of corps members and NYSC facilities.
During a courtesy visit by NYSC Director-General Brigadier General YD Ahmed to his office in Kaduna State, General Sarazo reaffirmed the division’s commitment to ensuring maximum protection for corps members. He emphasized that NYSC members serving within the division receive equal attention and privileges as army officers.
General Sarazo stressed the historical ties between the NYSC and the Nigerian Army, emphasizing the importance of fostering stronger relationships between the two institutions. He also expressed the division’s readiness to collaborate with other security agencies, community leaders, traditional rulers, religious groups, political leaders, and stakeholders to effectively carry out their duties.
The GOC assured that the division would maintain adequate security measures for all Corps Lodges, NYSC Secretariats, and Orientation Camps under its jurisdiction.
In his remarks, Brigadier General YD Ahmed congratulated General Sarazo on his appointment and highlighted the crucial role of 1 Division Kaduna in supporting the NYSC. He praised the division for providing robust welfare packages, security, and logistical support to corps members serving in the area.
General Ahmed also appreciated the division’s support for the NYSC Kaduna State secretariat, including the deployment of military personnel to the orientation camp for drills, physical training, and other security-related activities.
