JUST IN!!! Court Orders Immediate Arrest Of Yahaya Bello

Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, is facing serious legal issues as the Federal High Court in Abuja has accused him of attempting to evade prosecution by challenging the court’s jurisdiction while being in hiding. The court, led by Justice Emeka Nwite, reiterated its previous order for security agencies to arrest and produce Bello to face a 19-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Bello’s decision to hire lawyers to challenge the court’s jurisdiction, despite being aware of the arrest order, was seen as a blatant disregard for the court’s authority.
Justice Nwite emphasized that Bello’s actions demonstrated a lack of respect for the court and its orders. By refusing to present himself for trial, Bello was effectively obstructing the course of justice. The court stressed that under the constitution, all individuals and authorities are obligated to comply with court orders, and Bello’s willful disobedience amounted to contempt of court. Bello’s attempt to avoid prosecution by hiding and challenging the court’s jurisdiction was condemned by the court as a blatant attempt to undermine the legal process.
The court highlighted that Bello’s behavior was not only disrespectful but also obstructive to the administration of justice. His refusal to obey the court’s order demonstrated a disregard for the law and the judicial system. The court reiterated that an order of court remains valid until set aside, and individuals are bound to comply with it. Bello’s failure to appear before the court hindered the progress of the case and showed a lack of regard for the legal proceedings.
Justice Nwite emphasized that Bello’s conduct had been previously condemned by the Supreme Court, and his attempt to challenge the court’s jurisdiction without appearing in person was unacceptable. The court made it clear that no application could be entertained without Bello being present to take his plea. Bello’s actions were seen as an attempt to manipulate the legal process and avoid accountability for the charges against him.
Bello, who governed Kogi State for eight years, is accused of involvement in money laundering, breach of trust, and misappropriation of public funds amounting to approximately N80.2 billion. The court’s ruling reflects the seriousness of the charges against him and the importance of upholding the rule of law. Bello’s evasion of prosecution and attempts to challenge the court’s authority have only further escalated the legal proceedings against him.
