Zamfara State Rejects ‘Peace Accord’ Between Nigerian Government Negotiators, Terrorists

The Zamfara State government strongly opposes the recent peace pact purportedly made between certain individuals claiming to represent the Nigerian government and local bandits. According to a statement by Mannir Mu’azu Haidara Kaura, the state Commissioner of Information and Culture, the government asserts that this initiative is unauthorized and goes against the interests of the state and its people. Despite the ongoing security challenges posed by terrorists, the government maintains its stance against negotiating with bandits.
The government condemns the actions of those purportedly representing the Federal Government in negotiating with bandits, labeling their efforts as illegal and politically motivated. Governor Dauda Lawal has repeatedly stated that his administration will not engage in any peace talks with bandits. The government believes that these negotiations are orchestrated by adversaries of the state to undermine its efforts in combating banditry and other criminal activities.
Zamfara State refuses to endorse or support the peace accord initiative with bandits and urges the public and security agencies to reject any such attempts. The government emphasizes that negotiating with bandits is contrary to the will of the people and is designed to disrupt security efforts. It assures the public that it is working closely with security agencies to restore peace and protect the lives and properties of its citizens.
The government extends its condolences to the victims of recent banditry attacks in Sakaji and Bilbis villages, affirming its commitment to preventing further incidents.
