In Byhazin, a suburb of Kubwa in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, chaos erupted when scavengers, also known as Bababola, attempted to steal food from a roadside restaurant. The restaurant owner’s alarm alerted passersby and customers, leading to a confrontation where the scavengers were beaten but managed to escape lynching.

In retaliation, the scavengers regrouped and attacked the estate, sparking a violent confrontation that left many injured. Local youths rallied to protect their community, engaging in a fierce battle with the hoodlums. Gunshots were heard, causing panic and disrupting normal activities in the area.

The Divisional Police Officer deployed officers to restore order, but tensions remained high as residents feared further attacks. Despite the efforts of security forces, the community woke up to renewed threats of violence from youth intent on attacking again. However, a joint effort between the youths and security agents successfully repelled the attackers.

As a result of the ongoing threat, many offices and shops remained closed, and the streets were deserted. Residents expressed concern over their safety and called for urgent intervention from the police and relevant authorities. However, attempts to reach the FCT Police Spokesperson for comment were unsuccessful.

In summary, Byhazin faced turmoil when scavengers’ attempted theft escalated into a violent clash, prompting the community to unite in defense against further attacks. The situation highlighted the need for increased security measures and swift action from authorities to restore peace and ensure the safety of residents.
