Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has asserted that his administration has outperformed its predecessors, including the tenure of former governor Nyesom Wike, who held office for eight years. Fubara made these remarks during the inauguration of the Andoni section of the Ogoni-Andoni-Opobo Unity Road project in Ngo Town, Andoni Local Government Area.

He proudly highlighted the strides made by his government in enhancing the quality of life for the people of Rivers State and emphasized significant investments in infrastructure. Fubara acknowledged the initial efforts of former governor Peter Odili, who initiated the Unity Road project approximately a decade ago, expressing gratitude for Odili’s contribution to the development of the state.

Despite the project’s prolonged timeline, Fubara emphasized the significance of its completion, connecting Andoni to neighboring local government areas. He stressed that the project was executed without accruing any debt, a testament to the fiscal responsibility of his administration.

Furthermore, Fubara criticized past administrations, particularly that of Nyesom Wike, for neglecting the health sector in Rivers State. He lamented the state’s classification as below benchmark in terms of healthcare infrastructure and enrollment, as revealed in recent assessments. This, according to Fubara, is a reflection of years of neglect and mismanagement in the healthcare system.

In response to these challenges, Governor Fubara pledged to prioritize the revitalization of the healthcare sector within the next six months. He affirmed his government’s commitment to addressing the deficiencies in healthcare infrastructure and services, recognizing the vital importance of healthcare to the well-being of the people.

Despite the relatively short duration of his administration, Fubara expressed satisfaction with the progress achieved thus far. He confidently stated that his government had surpassed the accomplishments of previous administrations, even those that had considerably longer tenures. Fubara welcomed scrutiny and challenges to his claims, underscoring his confidence in the achievements of his administration.

In summary, Governor Fubara’s remarks underscored his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of the people of Rivers State through infrastructure development and healthcare reform. While acknowledging the contributions of past administrations, he asserted the superiority of his government’s performance, particularly in comparison to the tenure of former governor Nyesom Wike. Fubara’s pledge to address healthcare challenges reflects his administration’s proactive approach to governance and its determination to deliver tangible benefits to the people.
