Tinubu Departs For Lagos To Commission N15trillion Lagos-Calabar Highway, Others To Mark One Year In Office

President Bola Tinubu embarked on a significant trip to Lagos State to mark his first year in office. Departing from Abuja, he commenced a series of inaugurations and commissions, beginning with the concrete-paved road leading to the nation’s major ports in Apapa and Tin Can Island. This road project, initiated under the previous administration, was funded by the Dangote Group through tax credits.
Additionally, President Tinubu virtually inaugurated the refurbished Third Mainland Bridge, praised for its exceptional quality and aesthetics, along with the rehabilitation of 330 roads and bridges nationwide. The highlight of the day was the inauguration, also virtual, of the iconic Lagos-Calabar Superhighway, connecting nine coastal states at an estimated cost of N15 trillion. The construction of Section Two of this project had already been awarded to Hitech Construction Limited.
Returning to Abuja, President Tinubu continued his commissioning schedule. He inaugurated the Southern Parkway, named after him by the FCT Administration led by Nyesom Wike. Subsequently, he participated in the National Assembly Dialogue Series and unveiled the National Assembly Library Complex, bearing his name. He then relaunched the commercialization of the Abuja Light Rail, taking a symbolic train ride to the city center. This rail system, completed in 2018, fell into disuse due to the COVID-19 pandemic and vandalism. However, with $15 million spent by FCT Minister Wike on refurbishment, it was restored for commercial service.
President Tinubu further inaugurated the Wuye Flyover-Link Bridge and the Defence Intelligence Agency Headquarters. Concluding his busy week of activities, he commissioned the NASENI-Portland Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Reverse Engineering Centre at Utako on May 31st.
Tinubu’s engagements showcase a blend of physical and virtual inaugurations, reflecting both infrastructural achievements and modern technological utilization. The projects undertaken signify a commitment to national development and infrastructure enhancement across various sectors, from transportation to energy.
