11-Year-Old Girl, Two Others Killed In Lagos Collapsed Mosque, Seven Injured

Three individuals, including an 11-year-old girl, lost their lives in Mushin, Lagos State, when a mosque collapsed during Zuhr prayer on Sunday afternoon. Initially, the Lagos State Police Command reported only the death of the young girl and injuries to others, who were promptly taken to nearby hospitals.
Later, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Femi Osanyintolu, confirmed the recovery of three bodies from the debris. He mentioned that the affected buildings were completely leveled.
Various response teams, including those from LASEMA, Lagos State Fire Service, LASBCA, NEMA, Nigeria Police, and others, were present at the scene to provide assistance. This incident adds to the grim statistics of building collapses in Lagos, which reported the highest number of such incidents in 2022 according to the Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG).
