Social Media App, X Formally Allows X-Rated Contents on Platform

Elon Musk’s social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, has recently updated its guidelines to officially permit adult and graphic content on the platform. This move marks a departure from the previous stance, where adult content was present but not explicitly allowed.
Under the new guidelines, users are permitted to share adult content as long as it is consensually produced and distributed. The platform acknowledges sexual expression as a form of artistic expression and allows for the sharing of such content within certain parameters.
Accounts that frequently post adult content are required to label their posts as sensitive, and users have the option to opt-out of viewing adult content if they choose. The policy also extends to various forms of content, including AI-generated, animations, cartoons, hentai, and anime.
X’s safety team has highlighted that these updated guidelines aim to bring clarity to the platform’s rules and transparency to their enforcement. However, since Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter, there has been criticism regarding content moderation and technical issues.
Musk’s vision for the platform extends beyond advertising revenue, aiming to transform it into a “super app” similar to China’s WeChat. This transformation includes integrating messaging, voice and video calling, social media, mobile payments, and online booking services.
Overall, the update in content guidelines represents a significant shift for the platform, aligning with Musk’s vision of promoting free speech while also expanding its capabilities and revenue streams.
