A Nigerian woman residing in Canada, Amaka Sunnberger, is currently under investigation by the Toronto Police Service for threatening to poison Nigerians of Yoruba and Benin ethnic backgrounds. Sergeant Bassey Osagie confirmed that the Toronto Police are looking into the matter following a petition from the Nigerian House of Representatives and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission.Sunnberger, who lives in Ontario, allegedly made these threats after arriving at her workplace. In a viral video, she expressed her intention to poison the food and water of Yoruba and Benin individuals, saying she would use harmful substances like rat poison (“Otapiapia”) and other toxins. She expressed extreme hatred towards these groups, declaring that she intended to make them suffer and eventually die from her actions.The threats prompted immediate responses from Nigerian authorities, including a petition to Canadian officials from Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission. The petition, addressed to Patrick Brown, Mayor of Brampton, calls for a thorough investigation and legal action against Sunnberger.Sunnberger’s comments, made in Pidgin English, detailed her plans to inflict harm on Yoruba and Benin people by contaminating their food and water with poison. Her statements, which included references to various poisons, were made in the context of her expressed animosity towards these groups.
