Police Dismiss Trigger-Happy Officer Who Killed 20-Year-Old Man In Kebbi Over ‘Refusal To Give Bribe’
The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed Inspector Nura Ahmed, a police officer from the Yauri Division in Kebbi State, following his involvement in the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man, Ahmed Ibrahim. The incident, which occurred in the Zamare area of Yauri Local Government Area, was reportedly triggered by Ibrahim’s refusal to pay a bribe demanded by Ahmed.Jabir Ibrahim, the victim’s brother, confirmed the dismissal of the officer on September 13, 2024. He revealed that investigations by relevant authorities determined the officer intentionally killed his brother. Jabir expressed deep grief and frustration, highlighting that Ahmed Ibrahim, an orphan, was working hard to improve his life before being unjustly killed.The next steps involve the Kebbi State government, through the Ministry of Justice, reviewing the investigation files and preparing to forward the case to the Federal High Court for trial. Inspector Nura Ahmed has been transferred to the Kebbi State new prison after being dismissed and appearing in a magistrate court in Birnin Kebbi.Jabir Ibrahim expressed gratitude to Barrister Uche and to Nigerians who supported the call for justice. He vowed to continue pursuing the case until justice is fully served.
