INEC Halts Voting in Key Locations in Kogi, Cites Electoral Malpractices

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken the step of suspending voting in certain locations in Kogi State.
This decision follows reports of electoral malpractice received from INEC officials, particularly incidents involving pre-completed result sheets.
The affected areas are primarily in five local government areas of Kogi State: Adavi, Ajaokuta, Ogori/Magongo, Okehi, and Okene.
INEC specifically announced the suspension of the election in nine wards in Ogori/Magongo LGA, stating that any result not originating from the Commission’s process in the polling units would not be accepted.
Investigations into incidents in other local government areas are ongoing, and the commission plans to announce outcomes within 24 hours.
INEC also emphasised its commitment to protecting voters’ rights and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
