Confusion as woman declares herself APC Chairperson
In a fresh crisis coming from the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), a woman identified as Hafusa Danladi has come out to declare herself the bonafide national chairperson of the party.
The development on Wednesday, announced in a press statement on her X (formerly Twitter), stated that she is the legal and recognised chairperson of the party leadership.
“I, Alhaja Hafsatu Danladi, hereby assert my position as the true and authentic chairperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC).”
Hafusa said that she will be heading to the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge the legitimacy of the party’s present leadership to regain her position and unseat them.
According to her, “I will be approaching the Federal High Court in Abuja to challenge the legitimacy of the current leadership. This action seeks to unseat what I consider an illegitimate structure presently overseeing the affairs of our great party.”
Furthermore, her legal action involves the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), asking the court to order the electoral umpire to withdraw, recognising the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Mr Nentawe Yilwatda.
“I will be requesting the court to direct the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to discontinue recognition of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Mr Nentawe Yilwatda.”
According to her, the process is to seek justice and uphold the party’s status by ensuring that the party respects individuals and follows due process.
“This step is necessary to uphold the rule of law, protect the integrity of our party, and ensure that due process is followed in its leadership.”
