Police Declare Eze Victor Chekwube Wanted Over Alleged Cult Activities in Kuje

Eze Victor Chekwube, a native of Umuezekwe, Obukpa in Enugu State, Nigeria, born on 2 July 1999, is currently facing serious security and legal challenges following years of alleged threats, torture, and violent cult-related incidents.

According to information gathered, Chekwube’s father was a member of the Ogboni confraternity. After his father’s death in 2015, Chekwube, said to be his only child, was allegedly demanded to succeed his father within the group. He reportedly refused, stating that joining the confraternity was against his Christian faith.

Sources claim that following his refusal, Chekwube was repeatedly threatened and tortured, forcing him to flee his community in 2019. He relocated to Old NEPA Road, Kuje, in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in an attempt to find safety. However, it is alleged that he was later traced to Kuje, where the intimidation and abuse reportedly continued.

In 2019, Chekwube is said to have joined the Eiye confraternity, which he reportedly described as a move taken for self-defence and protection. This decision allegedly led to several violent clashes between rival cult groups within the Kuje area.

One of the most severe clashes reportedly occurred on 19 August 2022 at about 9:00 p.m. in Kuje Area Council, Abuja. The incident allegedly claimed the lives of several cult members, while Chekwube reportedly escaped the violence.

Following this incident, Chekwube was reportedly declared wanted by the Nigerian Police, Kuje Police Station. He is alleged to be wanted for involvement in cult-related activities and for the possession of weapons, including cutlasses and firearms. Since then, he has reportedly been on the run.

Chekwube’s last known address in Abuja is Old NEPA Road, Kuje. As at the time of filing this report, no official police statement has been made public, and efforts to reach Chekwube for comments were unsuccessful.

Security agencies continue to warn against cultism and violent group activities, urging members of the public to provide useful information that can aid investigations.
