SDP Applauds President Tinubu’s Pledge to Introduce New National Living Wage in 2024
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s announcement of plans to implement a new national living wage for workers in 2024. Femi Olaniyi, the South-West zonal secretary of the party, expressed this commendation during an interview in Lagos.
President Tinubu, in his New Year broadcast, emphasized the importance of implementing a new national living wage, stating that it not only makes economic sense but is also morally and politically correct. He highlighted the need to prioritize alleviating the economic challenges faced by the people, particularly workers, at the state and local government levels.
Olaniyi welcomed the president’s commitment, stressing the significance of fulfilling this promise promptly to improve the welfare of workers and boost their productivity. He urged Tinubu to focus on reducing inflation and stabilizing the economy to ensure a better standard of living for all citizens.
The SDP chieftain emphasized the importance of practical actions to address the hardships faced by Nigerians, urging the government to implement policies and programs that directly benefit the poor and vulnerable.
