Transmission Company of Nigeria Announces Two-Week Power Outage In Edo, Delta States

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a scheduled two-week power outage at its Amukpe substation, affecting communities in Edo State and Delta. According to TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the outage is necessary to facilitate the safe installation of two 132KV transmission towers at the substation.
The outage is scheduled to commence on May 4 and last until May 17, during which time affected areas will experience a blackout. This outage will impact communities served by Benin DisCo through the Adeje industrial, woodland, Mosogar, Sapele, and Abraka feeders.
TCN clarified that the purpose of the outage is to create a safe working environment for contractors to carry out the installation of the transmission towers. Additionally, TCN will undertake the restringing of a section of the Benin-Delta and Delta-Oghara 132KV double circuit transmission lines during this period.
As a result of the scheduled maintenance work, the Amukpe substation will be temporarily offline, affecting the supply of bulk power to the mentioned areas. TCN emphasized its commitment to completing the necessary infrastructure upgrades to enhance the reliability and efficiency of the power transmission network.
In summary, TCN’s planned outage at the Amukpe substation aims to facilitate essential maintenance work for the installation of transmission towers. While this will result in a temporary disruption of power supply to affected communities, it is necessary to ensure the safety and reliability of the power transmission infrastructure.
