Young Men Arrested Over Alleged Same-Sex Activity at Lagos Club, Two Others Wanted

A group of young men have reportedly been arrested following an alleged incident involving same-sex activity at Lets Flex Club in the Yano-Era area of Lagos State.

The incident was reportedly brought to the attention of the police on August 2, 2023, after the alleged activity was discovered at the club, prompting the intervention of local security personnel, popularly known as vigilantes.

According to the report, some of the young men were apprehended at the scene and subsequently handed over to the police for questioning.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly mentioned the names of other individuals they alleged were involved in the incident. Among those named were Moses Adio and Kallon Kamara.

However, Adio and Kamara reportedly escaped before they could be apprehended and are currently at large.

The police are reportedly searching for both Moses Adio and Kallon Kamara and are seeking information that could assist in locating either of them.

Anyone who sees Moses Adio or Kallon Kamara, or has credible information about the whereabouts of either man, is urged to report the information to the nearest police station or the appropriate law-enforcement authorities.

Members of the public are advised not to confront, pursue or attempt to arrest either Adio or Kamara themselves, but to provide any relevant information to the authorities.

The other individuals reportedly arrested included Thomas Adewale and Aboy James, alongside others whose identities were not immediately disclosed.

The arrests followed an intervention by local security operatives after the alleged activity was reportedly discovered at the club. The vigilantes were said to have taken the apprehended men from the club into the street before eventually handing them over to the police.

The treatment of the suspects before their transfer to police custody has also raised concerns surrounding the incident. The report alleged that some of the men were stripped naked, publicly humiliated and physically assaulted by the vigilantes.

While the police are reportedly investigating the allegations that led to the arrests, any allegation of assault, public humiliation or physical abuse against the suspects by the vigilantes would also require a separate investigation.

The incident has further highlighted concerns about the need for due process in handling criminal allegations. Suspects are entitled to have allegations against them investigated through established legal procedures rather than being subjected to public punishment, humiliation or physical abuse.

Moses Adio and Kallon Kamara remain at large, with the police reportedly seeking information that could lead to the location of both men. Anyone with credible information about either man’s whereabouts is advised to contact the nearest police station or the appropriate law-enforcement authorities and allow the authorities to handle the matter.
