Kidnapped Oyo State secondary school teacher killed by bandits

One of the secondary school teachers identified as Michael Oyedoku, kidnapped in Oyo State, was killed by armed bandits in the early hours of Monday.

According to a video circulating online, the teacher who was one of those abducted from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, shows how he was gruesomely killed.

The kidnapping, which happened Friday, saw that a school principal, five teachers, and an unspecified number of pupils were taken away by people identified as armed bandits in a coordinated attack on three schools, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School, at about 9 a.m., when the pupils had assembled for morning assembly, according to eyewitnesses.

It was gathered that the bandits arrived on motorcycles, invaded the school, shot sporadically, and carried out the operation successfully and carried out the same attack on multiple schools almost simultaneously.

Before the killing of Mr Oyedokun, the assistant principal of L.A. Joel Adesiyan was killed while trying to escape through a window when the attack happened.

The government of Oyo State confirmed the beheading of Mr Oyedokun by armed bandits in a press statement on Monday.

Governor Makinde, in his condolence message to the family of the killed teacher, assured them and the residents that the government would deploy both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to secure the release of those still in captivity.

While the video of the killing of Mr Oyedokun is still fresh, there is also another circulating video footage of a woman with a baby on her back, identified as a staff member of First Baptist Church School, Ogbomosho, passionately appealing to the Federal Government, the Oyo State Government, and President Bola Tinubu for immediate intervention.
