Oyo School Principal Denies Kidnappers’ Ransom and Sharia Law Demands
Mrs. Alamu, the principal of Community High School, Esele in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, denies the report that the abductors are demanding one billion naira and the implementation of Sharia law.
In a video made available on social media on Monday, she clarified that the bandits are requesting just one thing, which is the release of their arrested people and not a monetary requirement for the victims’ release.
The principal said that they were shown some print media, where it was stated that the abductors were requesting a billion naira and the implementation of Sharia law to be entrenched in the country.
Recall reports circulating that the kidnappers are demanding both a ₦1 billion ransom and the implementation of Sharia law as conditions for the release of the victims.
This was a development credited to the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, where he revealed that the abductors had moved beyond financial demands to include ideological and political conditions.
She beseeched the government and media not to “play politics” with their lives, calling on Nigerians to make the message go viral to ensure the truth is known and to facilitate a negotiation for their release.
The victims have been held for 24 days.
