School Knows Nothing About N174.7m Contract Awarded in Its Name, Says Tracka

A Nigerian accountability organisation, Tracka, has alleged that Okotie-Eboh Grammar School in Delta State has no knowledge of a N174.7 million security project reportedly awarded and funded in its name.

The group made the claim on Tuesday after a monitoring visit to the school, where it said officials, including the principal, were unaware of the project despite records showing that funds had been released for its execution.

Tracka disclosed the findings in a post shared on its social media platforms, accompanied by photographs from the school premises. According to the organisation, N174.7 million was paid in February 2025 to Keritage Energy Ltd for the construction of a security post with CCTV cameras, fencing, solar-powered streetlights and a generator at the school.
However, the civic organisation said its tracking exercise revealed that there was no evidence that the project had been carried out.

According to Tracka, the school’s principal informed its team that the school had no knowledge of the project and was not aware that funds had been released for such an intervention.

The organisation further stated that investigations conducted during the visit showed that the streetlights currently within the school premises were installed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and not through the project for which the funds were reportedly disbursed.

Tracka also reported that there was no generator in the school, while the existing security post was renovated by the school’s old students’ association rather than through government funding. It added that the security post did not have any CCTV cameras, contrary to what was contained in the project description.

Questioning the whereabouts of the funds, the organisation called on the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishagu, which it identified as the implementing agency, to publicly explain how the money allocated for the project was spent, “We tracked and reported that this project has not been done. There is no sign of this project in the school premises and, according to the principal, there is no knowledge of this project or that funds have been disbursed,” Tracka stated.

The organisation also urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the project for possible mismanagement or diversion of public funds.

As of press time, neither Keritage Energy Ltd nor the Federal College of Agriculture, Ishagu, had issued a response to the allegations. Attempts by GovernMend Nigeria to contact Keritage Energy Ltd for comments proved unsuccessful.
